The second match in the YDL LAG took place at Jarman Park on Sunday. A fuller Chiltern team scored more points than at the first match but maintained seventh place against teams that had also strengthened since match 1. The weather was warm and sunny all day. Twenty-four Chiltern athletes took part, up from nineteen at match 1. The big highlight was U15 Boys hurdles where Emile Morti and Taye Awuku-Chan ran English Schools qualifiers. FULL RESULTS U13 Girls Several girls made debuts on Sunday. Amariah Odugwu ran well for fourth in both 75m (PB of 10.9) and 150m (PB of 22.1). Emilia Ingham in 75m and Bronwen Harman in 150m gave B string support. Annie-Rose Quantrill was fourth in A string 800m and Soraya Roughton third in B string and there was an A string win in 1200m for Juliette MacDougall in a PB of 4.00.7 with Emilia Ingham second in B string in a PB 4.26.3. Soraya Roughton ran a PB 14.2 in 70m hurdles. In the field Juliette and Emilia looked after long jump, Emilia high jump, Soraya and Bronwen shot, and Juliette and Bronwen javelin. The 4 x 100m relay team of Emilia, Juliette, Bronwen and Amariah were sixth. U13 Boys Isaac Taylor ran a PB of 3.59.9 to be fourth in A string 1200m, and helped out with A string 75m and B string javelin. Harrison Lawrence made a good debut with third in A string 150m, and good efforts in A string 800m, and A string long jump. Jack Dixon was fourth in A string javelin with a PB of 18.66m and helped with B string 800m and B string long jump. U15 Girls Pia Walsh and Gaia Ferraro ran 100m with Nia Clarke (PB of 29.7) and Pia running 200m. Evelyn Wildman and Carys Jones earned good points in 300m. Evelyn had a good battle with top-class athlete Zoe Allan in A string 800m, running 2.23.00 to be second. Carys also ran well in B string 800m to be second. Mimi Daley ran a PB in 1500m; Nia Clarke struggled with breathing, but bravely finished. Gaia ran A string 75m hurdles and looked after B string long jump. Nia scored a PB of 4.11m in A string long jump. Evelyn helped with A string high jump and Mimi scored useful points in shot and discus. The 4 x 300m team of Nia Clarke, Pia Walsh, Carys Jones and Evelyn Wildman ran very well to be a creditable third in 3.19.2. U15 Boys A highlight of the meeting for Chiltern was the 80m hurdles where Emile Mortin won A string in 11.8 and Taye Awuku-Chan B string in 12.1, both English Schools qualifying times. Emile added an A string win in 100m in 11.9, and third in A string discus. Taye added a season’s best 5.25m to be second in A string long jump and a PB of 26.2 in A string 200m. Aarav Johnson provided useful B string back-up in 100m and 200m. Colin Miles scored valuable points in A string 300m, A string high jump, and A string javelin. Raphael Tsolaki also contributed well in A string 800m, B string 300m and B string high jump. Logan Gaskell ran well for fourth in A string 1500m with Kit Dixon in B string. Kit was third in B string long jump. Jacob McCall ran in B string 800m and threw B string shot. Isaac McCall ran non-scoring 800m and helped out with A string shot and B string javelin. The 4 x 100m team of Emile, Aarav, Colin and Taye was second in 53.2, and the 4 x 300m team of Kit, Raphael, Jacob and Logan were fifth. The third match is Sunday June 16th at Bracknell.
