It was another cold, windy day for athletics at Ridlins Stadium, Stevenage on Sunday. The ‘Wycombe and Chiltern’ composite team of U17 and U20 athletes had a good turnout of 34 athletes, seventeen from each club, and there were some great performances. First year Warwick Uni athlete Ryan Wells scored his usual raft of points in long jump (2nd), triple jump (1st), discus (2nd) and 110m hurdles (1st) and ran well in the 4 x 100m relay. Andrew Partridge and Leo Selcon-Park completed a full presence in the throws. Edward Johnson ran up an age group to win 1500m in a PB of 4.23.5. Another U17, Ian Marginean, ran up in A string 100m and 200m. Archie Pinder and Isaac Jessop-Tranter ran well in 400m, Archie second in A string (52.50), Isaac winning B string (53.85). U17 Tom Jordan had a good run in A string 800m with Toby Radbourne running a PB to win the B string. The 4 x 100m relay team saw Ian, Ryan, Harry Deeks and Finn Walsh come a respectable third in 48.07. U20 Women Chisom Nwafor focused on field events winning shot (12.02m), long jump (5.63m), high jump (1.58m) and javelin (27.63m). Mila Luker won B string long jump in a new PB of 5.26m. U17 Eva Carsberg ran up in A string 100m, and Aoife McCauley and Lailah Pope looked after 200m. Aoife also took wins in B string high jump (1.40m) and javelin (23.48m).Frankie Baxter won 1500m steeplechase in an English Schools qualifying time of 5.14.88. Jasmine Smith was fourth in A string discus and Lyla Griffin was second in A string hammer. The quartet of Frankie Baxter, Archie Pinder, Aoife McAuley and Isaac Jessop-Tranter were second in the mixed 4 x 400m relay in a good time of 3.52.74. U17 Men A strong squad saw Harry Deeks and Ryan Allbrook in100m, Finn Walsh and Harry Deeks in 200m, Tom Jordan and Dylan Rossi in 400m, Joel Crook and Daniel Cogan in 800m, and Jack Turner and Rory Crichton in 1500m with Samuel Evans as non-scoring. Ryan helped with second place in A string triple jump (11.22m) and Rory, Joel, Tom and Dylan were third in 4 x 400m relay. Daniel was A string long jump and Joel A string javelin. Ben Coughlin contributed with A string shot, discus and hammer. U17 Women Olivia Edwards looked after A string 100mand 200m, with Lailah Pope B string 100m, Abi Masters B string 200m. Abi ran A string 300m and Issy Robinson was second in A string 800m. Marlie Nkoane (second in A string) and Ivy Uhart (winning B string) scored good points in 1500m. Ffion Harman ran well to be second in A string 300m hurdles and third in A string javelin. Elsewhere in the field Eva Carsberg was A string long jump, Ellen Taylor A string shot and Ysabelle Majekodunmi discus. The 4 x 300m team of Ffion, Abi, Issy and Ivy was a good second. Olivia, Ysabelle, Lailah and Eva were third in 4 x 100m relay. For the first time at a composite match the officials team was entirely Chiltern with Sue and Doug on the stands, and Anne Underwood, Graham Tranter, Nick Pinder, and Tom Robinson looking after pole vault and triple jump.
