![]() There was another strong performance from the Wycombe and Chiltern composite team at Bournemouth on Sunday at the second (of three) YDL Upper Age Group matches. Although the day was mostly sunny, a very strong wind aided the sprinters but caused havoc for the middle distance runners. Thirty-four athletes provided a good turnout for the team which ended up a creditable third from the seven taking part. U20 Women Aoife McAuley (27.3) ran well for third in A string 200m with Abi Masters third in B string in 27.9. Amy Hogbin battled the strong headwind in the back straight to be second in 400m in 59.4. Jo Snelling and Sofia Lomas scored useful points in 800m as did Tilly Firth and Emma Caddell in 3000m. Aoife continued her good day in the field, first in A string triple jump (9.87m) and javelin (20.96m) and second in A string long jump (5.11m). Lyla Griffin picked up good points in A string shot, discus and hammer. The 4 x 100m relay team of Tilly Firth, Lyla Griffin, Amy Hogbin and Aoife McAuley was fifth. The mixed 4 x 400m A string team of Amy, Aoife, Tom Jordan and Joel Crook was third, whilst the B string team of Jo Snelling, Jack Turner, Sofia Lomas and Dan Cogan was second. U20 Men Harrison Sears strained a hamstring in A string 100m and could take no further part in the day. Finn Walsh ran a windy PB in A string 200m. Tom Jordan was third in A string 800m and Joel Crook second in B string but times were way off their best due to the killer headwind in the backstraight. Edward Faulkner won A string 3000m and Jack Turner won B string. Ryan Wells ran a windy PB of 14.9 to win A string 110m hurdles and added a win in triple jump and second in long jump and discus. Andrew Partridge scored well in all the throws including a B string win in discus as did Leo Selcon Park (B string wins in shot, hammer and javelin). The 4 x 100m relay team of Finn Walsh, Ryan Wells, Ian Marginean and Tom Jordan was second. U17 Women Lailah Pope and Eva Carsberg had good runs in 100m and 200m, with Abi Masters and Ivy Uhart scoring well in 300m. Issy Robinson was fourth in A string 800m, Alice Peckham second in B string. Marlie Nkoane won A string 3000m with Issy right behind winning B string. Florence Lee-Rubis got a windy PB in 80m hurdles on 13.2 and did well in A string long jump. Eva was second in B string long jump. Ivy Uhart made a promising debut in 1500m steeplechase, third in A string. Ellen Taylor scored good points in shot and discus and won B string hammer. Genevieve Cole won A string hammer with an excellent 38.36m and was third in B string discus. Florence was third in A string javelin, Genevieve second in B string. Tom Jordan and Joel Crook looked after 400m, and Jack Turner ran a PB in A string 800m. Rory Crichton was second in A string 3000m with Samuel Evans winning B string. Daniel Cogan made a good debut in steeplechase and added good points in B string long jump and triple jump. Issa Phillips-Poe conquered the wind to win pole vault with 3.40m. Ryan Allbrook did well in A string long jump and triple jump (PB of 12.04m) but was another victim of injury with an ankle problem in triple jump. Joel Crook scored useful points in javelin.
