Team South Bucks were a creditable third on Sunday in the Youth Development League Upper Age Group match at Eton. The composite team, composed of U17 and U20 athletes from Chiltern Harriers and Wycombe Phoenix, suffered from absentees due to covid isolation amongst other factors, but the athletes taking part all did well and there were several wins and personal bests achieved.
U20 Women Chistina Poulsen and Jemima Hay looked after 100m and Abi Symonds and Zenzele Samuel-John 200m. In 400m Cerys Vico and Sian Vico both achieved sub 60 second PBs. Holly Henderson ran a season’s best 2.20.27 in A string 800m and Orla Williams ran B string. Olivia Brown won A string 1500m and Ella Watson B string, and Ellen Cooper won A string 3000m. In the field Hannah Wells won hammer and discus, was second in shot, and fourth in javelin. Jemima Hay was third in A string long jump and Rufaro Chikwanda was second in triple jump. The 4 x 100m relay team of Abi Symonds, Jemima Hay, Sian Vico and Sienna Drummond were second, as were the 4 x 400m relay team of Cerys Vico, Abi Symonds, Holly Henderson and Olivia Brown. U20 Men Keelan Welch ran A string 100m and 200m and Dominic Symonds looked after 400m. Max McGarvie was second in 800m but won A string 1500m with Finn O’Brien winning the B string. John Nickless was third in 800m B string. In 3000m Louis Peterson was second in A string, James Palmer second in B string. Marko Stankovic was fourth in 110m hurdles and third in high jump, Jerry Anderson third in triple jump. Toby Folkes and Kesegan Suthakar did an excellent job in all four throws, Toby winning B string hammer, Kes winning B string discus and javelin. The 4 x 100m relay team of Keelan, Marko, Saajan Jassy and Ryan Wells were third as were the 4 x 400m relay team of Max McGarvie, Dominic Symonds, Andrew Partridge and John Nickless. U17 Women Jemma Thomson was second in A string 100m and 200m. Sienna Drummond was third in 100m B string, Olivia Edwards third in A string 300m (PB of 45.44) and Zenzele Samuel-John was third in 300m. Alice Brown was second in A string 800m, Olivia Edwards third in B string. Rosa Williams was third in A string 1500m. In 3000m Charlotte Docwra was second in a PB of 10.50.26, Ellie Shield winning B string in 11.39.32. Chisom Nwafor put in a good shift, second in A string 80m hurdles, high jump and javelin. Jess Cook was third in B string 80m hurdles, third in A string hammer and A string shot. In 300m hurdles Rufaro Chikwanda was third in A string, Gabi Riley third in B string. Gabi added second in A string triple jump and B string shot. Abbie Henderson was second in A string 1500m steeplechase and won B string high jump. Amber Galley was third in A string discus. The 4 x 100m relay team of Christina Poulsen, Zenzele Samuel-John, Eva Sandy and Rufaro Chikwanda was second. The 4 x 300m relay team of Jemma Thomson, Chisom Nwafor, Jess Cook and Rufaro Chikwanda were second. U17 Men Saajan Jassy ran A string 100m and Josh Gonsalves was second in 200m, Adam Winstanley third in B string. Thomas Askey won A string 1500m steeplechase in his first attempt at the event and was third in A string 400m. Felix Palmer and Andrew Partridge looked after 800m and Sammy Bennetts was third in A string 1500m. Jerry Anderson was third in A string 3000m. Ryan Wells ran a 100m hurdles PB of 13.76 to be second and added second in long jump (6.06m) and a win in triple jump. Noah Hobson won B string triple jump and was second in B string long jump. Andrew partridge took care of A string discus and hammer and Adam Winstanley A string shot. The final match of the season is at Reading on September 5th. Comments are closed.
