Race Report: a summing up of a week's worth of cross country, track and field and road racing10/2/2024
Good Evening, Race Report fans. Here in Race Report HQ we are gently dozing off the effects of yesterday’s Chiltern League. Congratulations to all the Harriers who took part in what can only be described as incredibly gruelling conditions. Keep watching the website for Steve P’s report. It’s also a doubly-impressive feat by those junior athletes who were in action at the Bucks Schools Cross Country Champs at Stowe School on Wednesday 7 February. You can find Steve’s report and pictures here. Furthermore, you can find reporting (and videos!) from last weekend’s SEAA Senior / U20 Indoor champs here, and from the Herts Schools Cross Country Champs at Verulamiam Park, St Albans, here. On Thursday 8 February, Richard Slade and Will Perkin took part in the Armagh International Road Race 5k in Northern Ireland. Self-proclaimed as one of the fastest 5k races in the world, you can rather see that from the results. Out of 584 finishers, Richard was 29th in 14.08 and Will - well less than a minute behind in 14.57 - was 128th. I feel slightly queasy just thinking about that volume of fast people…! There were a number of first-placed finishes at parkrun events on Saturday 10 February. Oliver Jackson was first overall at Black Park (17.23); Ali Young first female at Rickmansworth (19.56) and Lesedi Nkoane first female at Church Mead (25.06). Sam Ditty earned himself a course PB at Black Park (20.48), while Jack Martin had an all-time parkrun PB at Rickmansworth (20.06). Nikolay Khumchev hit his 50th parkrun milestone, in a time of 24.34, also in Rickmansworth. COMING UP LOCALLY: the Harrow Hill 10k, our Food Bank Run, Last Friday of the Month 5k, English National Cross Country Championships, Winslow 10k, the first of the Gade Valley Harriers marathon training runs (at a new location), Humanity Direct Amersham Ultra, Berko Half Marathon and the next of the Mornington Chasers Regents Park 10k series. Check out more on these events and others on the Club Calendar. Comments are closed.
