Good Evening, Race Report fans. We’ll kick things off with some snippets from last weekend when Your Humble Reporter went AWOL.
Good evening, Race Report fans and Happy Father’s Day. I hope all the dads out there have had a lovely day and if you’re barbecuing in the drizzle this evening, embrace the sheer British-ness of it!
Good Afternoon Race Report fans from a very sleepy Bates household. I hope you have managed to enjoy the hot weather, even if it did make for some challenging running conditions.
First of all, I wanted to look back to a result which I managed to miss from last weekend. Maddie Hughes successfully defended her position as European Age Group triathlon champion in Madrid, in a total time of 1.01.30 in a sprint distance run-bike-run event. Well done, Maddie! Good Evening, Race Report fans, from a sunny spot in the Chilterns. I hope you’ve been enjoying the onset of June as much as we have here in Race Report HQ.
It’s another really interesting week for results, with Harriers competing in a huge variety of events. We’ll kick things off with Richard Slade’s performance in the Iffley Festival of Miles, held yesterday at the track where Roger Bannister famously broke the 4-minute mile in 1954, and our Richard wasn’t too far off that pace, clocking a fantastic time of 4.16 in his event. Well done! I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely Spring Bank Holiday and to those of you who are away for Half Term: have a wonderful time.
Good Evening, Race Report fans. I hope you have enjoyed a thoroughly nice weekend.
Before we get into this weekend’s racing, a look back to last weekend when Tessa and Duncan Passey, alongside Ben Martin took part in the Ultra Trail Snowdonia by UTMB. While unfortunately Ben had to withdraw, Tessa and Duncan completed the gruelling-sounding event in a time of 12.34.15. Well done (and this reporter has certainly now got some ideas in her head…)! Hello Race Report fans! It’s been a really hectic couple of weeks in this Reporter’s life and I am glad to be home, even if I do feel a bit like I’ve been run over by a bus.
There was good Chiltern representation in the London Mini Marathon which this year took place on the Saturday, the day before the race. Most were taking part in the British Athletics Road Championships for their regions but Ellie Shield was running in the Borough Challenge for Westminster. All athletes ran the same 2.6k course around St James Park.

That day which always feels like a glorious celebration of our sport, which allows so many - be they an elite, or someone running their first marathon and dressed as a toilet - to immerse themselves in the welcoming embrace of the running community…
Good Evening, Race Report fans. I hope you have managed to enjoy some sunshine, or at least some dry weather this weekend. We have been loving it here in Race Report HQ, where the tulips are starting to look very fine indeed.
